Ignite Conference 2015 Devotional- One Life

There was a man who was born in a low socio-economic area. His parents weren’t rich,  his dad was a tradie and when the time came he did the same job. He never went that far from home, apart from once as a kid, he never left his home country. He never got a degree, didn’t buy a house, didn’t make lots of money, didn’t have a family. He had no credentials, none of the things that are usually associated with success.

One day, while he was still fairly young, something changed. His mates ditched him, denying they knew him. He was turned over to his enemies and went through a mockery of a trial, was tortured, then nailed to a cross between two thieves. His executioners gambled for the only piece of property he owned – the clothes he wore. When he was dead he was taken down and laid in a borrowed grave through the pity of a friend.

Almost 2000 years has passed since that day, but no army that has ever marched, or navies built, not any civilizations or any leaders, any royalty or celebrities that has ever lived have ever come close to impacting and changing the world like this One Solitary Life.

Jesus, You are the way, the truth and the life.
By your example we are shown the way to the Father,
the truth of salvation and the glory of eternal life

In your name we pray.
