Q. How are meals arranged? Inc. special diets/ allergies?

QCCC Mapleton will fully cater for breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, and supper.  QCCC serves up wholesome, nutritious meals in order to keep campers going throughout the busy days. Most special diets can be easily catered for including GF, DF, Egg Free, Vegetarian/ Vegan, Nut Free etc. (the Summer Camp registration form will ask for any dietary req. or allergies). Campers are most welcome to bring their own snacks however please note QCCC Mapleton is a nut-free facility and all food brought on-site cannot contain nuts. If you have any concerns about your child’s specific allergies, feel free to contact us directly to speak further.

Q. Are phones allowed and is there reception available?

Yes, there is limited phone reception, and we love our phones just as much as anyone, but we also love being in the moment when awesome things are happening.  In the last 5 years or so, we have run into many problems due to delegates having access to and using their phone at camp. Summer Camp 2018 was the first year where we have not had phones during Summer Camp- and the results were incredible! Campers lived in the moment and got to make more friends without being on social media 24/7.

Our plan is we collect all the mobile phones on Thursday during our first session, put them in a safe envelope with the owner’s name on the front and hand them back for charging on Sunday morning for the trip back home, especially for those taking the bus to be able to contact parents regarding lifts. If any parents wish to contact their children, we will provide the leader’s contact details before the camp. We would appreciate your support as parents in this area – please do not hesitate to call with any questions.

Q. Who can we contact during Summer Camp?

We understand there are times when you need to contact us or your high schooler during Summer Camp.

Contacts for 2025 during Summer Camp are Kym: 0412 536 017 or Pete: 0416 449 742.

Please understand reception isn’t great and and if we miss your call we will call you back as soon as we are able.

Q. What are the sleeping arrangements for 2025?

This year due to the venues fire safety requirements, we will be preselecting rooms and dorm groups. The campers will be sleeping in cabin dorms with similar age groups (similar grade in 2025 and gender). This also helps us care for the campers in an age appropriate way and helps campers to make new friends and journey with people of a similar age group. As part of the registration, the campers will be asked to submit up to 3 names of people they know at the camp or would like to be in a dorm with. If you have any concerns or pastoral requests, please contact us directly and we will try to help as best we can.

Q. What activities will the campers be doing?

Summer Camp consists of morning and evening rallies, small groups and large outdoor activities (allocated by grade in 2025) men’s and women’s days, mass, personal reflection and free time.

The camp will include a number of active indoor and outdoor activities.  We will have adequate supervision at all times during these activities, and teenagers will be free to participate according to their capabilities.  If you would like to find out more about the activities or have any concerns about your child participating, please feel free to contact us.

Q. My child has a medical condition?

Summer Camp has a comprehensive first aid and medical team with registered nurses on-site for the duration of the camp. If your child has any significant medical conditions or disabilities that may impair them from participating at Summer Camp, please let us know and we can work out a way for your child to fully participate in Summer Camp. Similarly, if your child has any medication they need to bring, it must be handed over to the camp nurse to take under supervision. Medication must be clearly labeled with name and dose/time and the prescription label attached. Please provide these instructions for the nurse on site.

Q. Why are t-shirts not included in the ticket price?

Previously Summer Camp has provided each camper with a complimentary ‘SC T-Shirt’ as memorabilia of their experience at Summer Camp.
Over the last few years, accommodation pricing has risen, resulting in a Summer Camp ticketing price rise. In order for campers to save money, we have cut t-shirts out of the ticket price and made them an optional add-on.
If you wish for your child to receive a Summer Camp T-shirt on arrival at the camp, please select this as a separate ticket item. Reminder emails will be sent out to registered campers before the event.

Q. What if I need a refund?

Ignite Youth Refund Policy:

Before 16 December 2043 - Refund available less 20% administration fee (max fee $25).

Before 1 January 2025 - 50% refund available

After 1 January 2025 - No refund available, or for non-attendance at the event,
however, registrations can be transferred to a new person.

To transfer a registration, the new attendee needs to complete a registration using a ticket code provided on request.

Please note that a $10 administration fee applies to all transfers.

For all registration conditions, please see our Event Registration Conditions

Q. Where do the buses pick up from?

You can purchase both return and one-way bus tickets. (One-way tickets will be available late December/ early January, once the majority of return tickets have been sold). Buses pick up/drop off from the following locations:

Bus 1 : Beenleigh, Carina and Caboolture

Bus 2: Indooroopilly and Albany Creek

We currently do not have buses picking up from locations north of Mapleton, as we generally don’t have enough interest. However, if there is a large group wanting bus transport, please contact us. Alternatively, carpooling is always a great way to make new friends.

For Parents and Youth Coordinators

Ignite Summer Camp is designed for high schoolers to make awesome, real friendships. Where possible, it's great for parishes or youth groups to send a group of teenagers together. In the past, this has shown to be valuable for the camp experience and has produced ongoing fruit for those groups when they return home.
(Youth leaders: please see Summer Camp Leader’s Application below, or contact Ignite Youth for more info)

Many teenagers have had life-changing experiences after being encouraged to attend this camp by someone at their parish or school. If there is a  young person in your parish or life who would benefit from this experience, we encourage you to invite them, and perhaps bless them with full or partial sponsorship, if you are in a position to do so.

Ignite Summer Camp is run by a team of experienced and emerging Catholic leaders. Each leader is required to hold a 'blue card' for working with children, a police check, compliance with our code of conduct, have a background in youth ministry or similar experience to their role at Ignite Summer Camp, and are also required to attend compulsory training before the camp.

Group leaders: if you would like more promotional material or have questions about registering, please contact the Ignite Youth office on (07) 3217 5199 or email summercamp@igniteyouth.com

PLEASE RETURN THE CONSENT FORM ASAP AFTER REGISTRATION. REGISTRATION IS NOT COMPLETE UNLESS SIGNED PARENTAL/GUARDIAN CONSENT IS RECEIVED.
