Birthdays have always been super exciting to me. I always make sure to remind people on New Year’s Eve that it’s 10 days until I’m another year older. It’s not that I’m trying to get a few more presents, I’m just kind of hooked on the excitement and anticipation (okay, and the presents). Which is why I love celebrating Pentecost.

So it turns out Lent is more than just a diet.
So it is Ash Wednesday today and for the first time, I actually remembered. Every year, on about the Monday before Ash Wednesday someone will ask me the standard, “so…what are you giving up this year?” Usually I’ll proceed to stare at them blankly until my stomach drops and it all clicks into place even though I vowed I wouldn’t forget this year.
