Conference Devotional: Send me, send me.

Send me, send me.

THIS IS NOT A DRILL – CONFERENCE IS ALMOST HERE!

It’s come in the blink of an eye, yet also as slow as my mum trying to work out google browser on her iPhone.

SO -

  •  Get ready

  • Get keen

  • Grab your sunscreen and pack your day bag (ok but I swear this always gets left to the last day and we all need this reminder)

I’ve only ever been to one conference, in 2015. I flew out not knowing what to expect, who I would meet, what was even going on (I didn’t know people smiled that much before I met people on fire for their faith!)

And despite myself, and how much I wanted to sit back passively, perhaps even with some angst, I loved the conference. I don’t really remember the talks, but I remember the way people made me feel when I arrived. The joy of Conference was completely unavoidably contagious, and each day I woke up excited because people in these weird red shirts (now I’m proud to say I’ll one of those guys at this Conference!) made me feel as though I belonged, they guided me through and it gave me so much freedom to delve into the depth, the knowledge, the power of the week.

When I was talking to my sisters about Conference, they expressed how they were nervous about the dance they had been involved with (get keen to see them in the opening act) and how focusing on this so much they had forgotten to leave room to actually get excited for conference. So, we started talking about what we were excited for..

  • The amazing workshops (ranging on so many relevant issues like mental health and your faith, discernment and living a faithful life)

  • Reunions! Conference is like a big Christmas party, where you get to see all the aunts and uncles, cousins and family friends you haven’t seen since last year, Ignite Conference brings people back together.

  • Dancing/moshing! Yep me and my sisters will be front row busting out to Emmanuelworships new album and hopefully some throwback bangers!

So, take a moment, and search your heart to find what you’re excited for. Give yourself full permission, and freedom to experience the conference and the gift it is, and be ready, because..
